In the following sections, we’ll be working extensively with the Design Tools Format Contextual Tabs. While that’s a big name for one little tab, Contextual Tabs are a new and amazing part of Word 2007.
With Contextual Tabs, Word 2007 actually watches the work that you are doing and when it sees that you’re working with images, graphics and AutoShapes, it automatically launches a new tab – a contextual tab that relates to the type of graphic with which you are working.
Now, for the most part, the tabs you see when working with graphics are fairly similar with just a few variations.

The tab below is what you’ll see when working with AutoShapes.

Figure 33. Adjust Group
Located on the Picture Tools Contextual Tab, the Adjust group is where you go to set your image brightness and contrast. This group also contains the command for setting your image back to normal.
Figure 34. Picture Styles Group
Also on the Picture Tools Contextual Tab is the Picture Styles Group offering a entire gallery of picture styles. This gallery is full of cool graphic effects you can add to your image and allows you to add a border around your image.
You’ll find the Arrange group on both the Picture Tools Contextual Tab and the Drawing Tools Contextual Tab. This is the only group that is identical on both tabs. On this group you’ll find all of the commands for aligning, rotating and adjusting the Text Wrapping for your objects.

Figure 36. Size Group
Each contextual tab offers a Size group. The one shown here is from the Picture Tools Contextual Tab. This group offers the ability to resize your image as well as a cropping option.
The first group on the Drawing Tools Contextual Tab is Insert Shapes. Once you’ve created your first AutoShape, Word 2007 makes it very easy to keep adding additional AutoShapes by offering a whole group of shapes versus the Shapes drop-down menu located on the Insert tab.

Also on the Drawing Tools Contextual Tab is the Shape Styles Group offering a entire gallery of shape styles. This gallery is full of cool graphic effects you can add to your image and allows you to change the border around your AutoShape and the fill color for the inside of your AutoShape. Plus, if you change your mind, you can quickly change your current AutoShape to an entirely new AutoShape with the click of one command.
With the Shadow Effects group on the Drawing Tools Contextual Tab, you can add great shadow effects and control the position of the shadow on your shape.
