Word 2007: Adding Line Numbers

Line numbering add consecutive numbers just inside the left margin that number each line of text in your document.

There are four line numbering options…

               

       

Line Number Option…

What It Does…

Continuous

The first line of text in   the document starts with the number 1 and each line after that is numbered in   consecutive order.

Restart Each Page

The first line of text on   each page starts with the number 1 and each line after that is numbered in   consecutive order.

Restart Each Section

The first line of text in   each section starts with the number 1 and each line after that is numbered in   consecutive order.

Suppress for Current   Paragraph

Turns off line spacing for   the selected paragraph.

Adding Line Numbers

1.       Click the Line Numbers command in the Page Setup Group on the Page Layout tab

2.       Choose the line numbering option of your choice



 

Customizing Line Numbering Options

1.       Click the Line Numbers command in the Page Setup Group on the Page Layout tab

2.       Choose Line Numbering Options…

3.       Line Numbers…
