Word 2003: Opening a Document

In Word 2003, you can have several documents open at one time. Each document is individually represented by a button on your Windows Task Bar at the bottom of your screen. Files can be opened either from the Open Dialog box or from the Most Recently Used File List.

From the Open Dialog Box, you can access to all of the files currently saved on your computer. But, from the Most Recently Used File List, you only have access to up to nine of the most recent files you’ve worked with in Word.

Opening Files from the Most Recently Used File List
     
  1. Choose File from the Menu bar
     
  2.  
  3. At the bottom of the Menu, click the file you want to open
     

Opening Files from the Open Dialog Box

     
  1. Choose File from the Menu bar
     
  2.  
  3. Choose Open…
     
  4.  
  5. Navigate to the folder that contains your file
     
  6.  
  7. Select your file
     
  8.  
  9. Click Open
