Outlook 2007: Creating Custom Themes

To begin to customize a theme, you simply start by changing the colors, the fonts, or the line and fill effects that are used.

Customizing Theme Colors

     
  1. Click Colors in the Themes group on the Page Layout tab
     
  2.  
  3. Click Create New Theme Colors…

    3.       For each theme color type, click the drop-down arrow and choose a new color

    4.       Enter a custom theme name in the Name box

    5.       Click the Preview button to see your new colors on your worksheet

    6.       Click Save



Customizing Theme Fonts

     
  1. Click Fonts in the Themes group on the Options tab
     
  2.  
  3. Click Create New Theme Fonts…

    3.       For each font, click the drop-down arrow and choose a new font

    4.       Enter a custom Theme font name in the Name box

    5.       Click Save

Selecting Theme Effects

The last part of themes that you can customize are the Theme effects, which are simply sets of lines and fill effects. However, even those are part of the overall Themes; the Theme effects cannot be customized in the same way you can customize the Theme colors and fonts.

     
  1. Click Effects in the Themes group on the Options tab
     
  2.  
  3. Hover your mouse over each effect
     
  4.  
  5. Click the effect that you want to apply
     

Saving a Document Theme

Now that you know how to modify each of the built-in theme parts, you’re now ready to save these changes as a new custom Theme.

     
  1. Click Themes in the Themes group on the Options tab
     
  2.  
  3. Click Save Current Theme
     
  4.  
  5. Name your new Theme and click Save
