Outlook 2003: Grouping Items

You’ve probably noticed that your Inbox messages are not only sorted by date, but they are also grouped by date. The way Outlook groups items is a great way to change how you view your messages. For instance, you can group your messages by sender instead of by date.

Furthermore, you don’t have to group at all, choosing instead to simply utilize the Sort feature.

Turning Grouping On or Off

     
  1. Choose View from the Menu bar
     
  2.  
  3. Choose Arrange By
     
  4.  
  5. Choose Show in Groups
     

Changing Grouping

     
  1. Choose View from the Menu Bar
     
  2.  
  3. Choose Arrange By
     
  4.  
  5. Choose Custom
     
  6.  
  7. Click Group By…

    5.       Remove the checkmark next to Automatically group according to arrangement

    6.       Under Group items by, choose a field

    7.       Choose Ascending or Descending

    8.       Click OK

    9.       Click OK
