Excel 2007: Modifying a PivotChart

The beauty in using PivotTables and PivotCharts is how incredibly easy they are to modify.

Common Chart Modifications

Working with a PivotChart is nearly identical to working with a regular Excel chart or graph. Which means, you already learned many of these options in the Excel 2007 Beginner course. But, this lesson will provide a good general review.

Changing the Chart Layout

     
  1. Select the Chart
     
  2.  
  3. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the Chart Layouts gallery in the Type group on the Design contextual tab
     
  4.  
  5. Select a new chart layout
     

Changing the Chart Style

     
  1. Select the Chart
     
  2.  
  3. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the Chart Styles gallery in the Type group on the Design contextual tab
     
  4.  
  5. Select a new chart style
     

Changing the Chart Title Position

     
  1. Select the Chart
     
  2.  
  3. Click the Chart Title command in the Labels group on the Layout contextual tab

  5. Select a new chart title position
     

Changing the Axis Title Position

  3. Click the Data Labels command in the Labels group on the Layout contextual tab

Using the PivotChart Filter Task Pane

The PivotChart Filter Task Pane is one of the first places you can go to modify the data that your PivotChart has displayed.
