Excel 2003: Tracing Dependents

A dependent is a cell that contains a formula that refers to other cells. The arrow points to the dependent. In other words, this formula result is dependent upon the points of origin, or precedents.

Tracing Dependents

     
  1. Click any cell referenced by a formula
     
  2.  
  3. Click the Trace Dependents command on the Formula Auditing toolbar
     

Removing Dependent Tracers

     
  1. Click the Remove Arrows drop-down arrow on the Formula Auditing toolbar
     
  2.  
  3. Choose Remove Dependent Arrows
