Access 2007: Copying the Table Structure and Data

As you create more and more tables, you may find that you need similar table structures for new tables. Or, consider a co-worker who asks if you have a table that might match their needs.

Both of these scenarios are completely possible. And, Access has a quick way to resolve both of these issues – copy the table structure.

Of course, you can always copy the table data which is handy when you’re looking to create a backup copy of table data for historical purposes.

Copying Table Structure

     
  1. Right-click the table you want to copy in the Navigation Pane
     
  2.  
  3. Choose Copy from the Shortcut Menu
     
  4.  
  5. Right-click a blank area of the Navigation Pane
     
  6.  
  7. Choose Paste from the Shortcut Menu

    5.       Enter a Table Name

    6.       Choose Structure Only

    7.       Click OK



Copying Table Structure & Data

     
  1. Right-click the table you want to copy in the Navigation Pane
     
  2.  
  3. Choose Copy from the Shortcut Menu
     
  4.  
  5. Right-click a blank area of the Navigation Pane
     
  6.  
  7. Choose Paste from the Shortcut Menu

    5.       Enter a Table Name

    6.       Choose Structure and Data

    7.       Click OK
