Ethics Training Course Summary
This Ethics course provides a vehicle to introduce employees to their organization’s Code of Business Conduct. Individual accountability for ethical behavior is key to successful adoption.
The “Code of Business Conduct (Ethics)” course covers a broad range of topics, typical of those addressed in the Codes of Business Conduct of leading corporations such as Verizon, Coca-Cola, Motorola, Colgate-Palmolive, United Parcel Service, and Price Waterhouse Coopers. Topics include a framework for ethical decision-making; how employees are treated and should treat one another; how organizational assets must be protected; how to avoid common conflicts of interest; and how the organization deals with its customers and competitors. Each module concludes with a scenario-based “Think About It” quiz item.
The Ethics training course content is designed to dovetail with and support (without necessarily replacing) more specific training on subjects such as EEO, sexual harassment, and IT security, for which many companies have detailed policies.
Ethics Training Features
Course Title: “Code of Business Conduct (Ethics)”
Duration: Seat time is estimated at approximately 1.5 hrs.
This Ethics training course speaks to many types of conduct that organizations typically prohibit for legal reasons, without dwelling on the specific *laws involved. Essentially, the course teaches that ethical behavior requires compliance with all applicable laws (federal, state, and local), but means more than doing just what the law requires. Ethical behavior also means recognizing, in any business situation, what is right, and what is wrong – and then doing the right thing.
*[Note: While many elements of this course would be relevant to employees of federal and state agencies, ethics training in those environments is typically more focused on laws and regulations. For example, ethical standards for federal Civil Service employees are largely defined by specific sections of the U.S.C. and the C.F.R. This course does not speak to those legal proscriptions.]
