Welcome to the KeyStone Learning Support page. If you are experiencing a problem running your KeyStone product, help is available here. For purposes of technical support, there are different "types" of KeyStone products (having to do with how the courseware was originally built). When there are problems, the solution sometimes depends on the type of course.
If you have a Desktop Learning Library / DVD-ROM product
(DLL—you access your course from one of a set of DVDs labeled "Desktop
Learning Library"): Go to Technical Support for Desktop Learning
Library (DLL) Courseware. (DLL delivery began 2/11/05)
If you have a CD-ROM product: Go to Technical Support for CD-ROM Courseware.
Return/Exchange/Damaged: If you are inquiring about making a return or an exchange, or have received a product that was damaged in shipping, please go to the Return/Exchange/Damaged Product section.
The DLL requires Internet
Explorer 5.5 SP2 or higher (IE6 recommended, if
you have upgraded to IE7 please go here), Windows
Media Player 6.4 or higher (the latest
version of Windows Media Player will yield the best performance.),
a DVD-ROM drive, and Internet access for one-time product activation.
Better video/graphics cards (16MB of on-board RAM or greater)
yield better performance.
Installation Issues:
If you did not receive installation instructions or are unsure how to install the DLL courseware please follow these directions:
- Insert the appropriate disc into your DVD-ROM drive.
- Double-click setup.exe or alternatively access your Start menu, select Run, type "D:\setup.exe" (without the quotes, where D is the letter of your DVD-ROM drive) and click Ok.
- Follow the directions in the installation program until installation is complete.
- A "KS"
icon will be placed on your desktop; double-click this icon to launch
the DLL software.
- All DLL discs contain content that may be viewed without entering your activation key. When you access protected content in the course you have purchased, submit your activation key when prompted.
Activation/Access Key Issues:
An access key is required to view courseware purchased on
the DLL. If you have received your DLL disc set but did not receive an activation
key (it should be on a sticker inside the DVD-ROM case), please contact
Support Services as directed below.
If you are running Windows Firewall and you encounter an error
such as "problem updating data" after submitting your access key, please try the following: temporarily turn off Windows Firewall, submit your activation key, wait until activation has completed, then turn your Windows Firewall back on.
If after submitting your access key you receive the message
"Invalid CD/Product Key" or "No License was issued;" please note the following:
- please make sure you have entered the access key correctly,
and/or
- make sure you have entered all characters and dashes, and that you have not confused the letter O with the number 0 (zero) character, nor the letter l (L) with the number 1 (one) character.
If after submitting your access key you receive the
message "License key has already been used" please note the following:
- if you have already activated once and are attempting to
activate again by selecting Activate License from the License menu;
this is not necessary, and/or
- if you have already activated but the status column shows
your course levels as being "inactive" please try viewing your
course level anyway, it may already be activated, and/or
- if you have already activated on one computer and are attempting to activate on another computer, please contact Support Services as directed below.
If you have already activated but receive a request to enter an access key when attempting to access your purchased courseware, please note the following:
- please check and see if you are accessing the correct
course (e.g., you have purchased "Word 2003" but are attempting
to view "Word XP"),
- please make sure you are viewing the courseware
on the computer on which you first activated,
- try submitting your activation key again (make sure you are on a stable Internet connection and allow time for the process to complete, as much as 1 minute), or
- if you have reinstalled or upgraded your operating
system software or are still unsuccessful, contact Support Services
as directed below.
Issues Other Than Activation/Access Key Issues:
If you have installed Internet Explorer 7 and get the following message: "This application requires Microsoft Windows Media Player 6.4 or later to work." please download and install the KeyStone Desktop Learning Library Internet Explorer 7 Update Installer.
If you are experiencing problems related to video playback
performance, (choppy or non-continuous video, "ghosting"
of previous video content, or video that is not scaling properly,
please try upgrading to the latest
version of Windows Media Player or try viewing video in "detached" mode by selecting the Detached Video button:
.
What To Do if None of the Above Solves your DLL Problem:
If none of the above solutions fixes your problem, or your
problem is not covered above, please contact Support Services via email
at support@KeyStoneLearning.com.
In order to more quickly serve you, please verify that your computer meets
the minimum requirements, and include the
following information in your email:
- if purchased directly from KeyStone: your order number and activation key,
- if purchased from an online reseller or retail store: store name, date of purchase, and activation key,
- your name,
- a telephone number where you can be reached and the hours you may be reached there,
- the operating system and service pack of the computer on which you are experiencing the problem,
- your version of
Windows Media Player and
Internet Explorer, and
- a detailed description of the problem and exactly when the problem occurs. (The more information you give us, the faster support can diagnose and solve the issue.)
After receiving your email, KeyStone Learning Support Services will contact you within one business day.
Note: Effective 9/6/05 KeyStone has discontinued staff-assisted technical support for any CD-ROM course that is now available in the new DVD-ROM, Desktop Learning Library edition. This includes all courses listed or refered to below. Technical Support for KeyStone CD-ROM courseware is now limited to this support page. Please see upgrade information at the bottom of this CD-ROM Technical Support section.
(This does NOT apply to the Desktop Learning Library edition of any product.) To
begin, find your course in the lists below to determine the type of
KeyStone course you have. (Note: KeyStone
Learning Systems is an authorized reseller of Blast Through Learning
products. If you have a technical support issue concerning your Blast
Through product purchased from KeyStone Learning, please contact Blast
Through Learning at 1-888-375-4648.) Once you find your course,
click the link at the top of the list to go to the technical support
information for that type of KeyStone course.

Keystone2 courses require
Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher,
Windows Media Player 6.4 or higher, a minimum
screen resolution of 1024x768, and that the
CD-ROM be in the drive.
Some Keystone2 courses require
Quicktime 5.01 or higher.
When users of Keystone courses of type "Keystone2" have problems they are usually solved by downloading and replacing an updated file. Most Keystone2 problems are solved this way. Please close the application. Then download klsucdrom.exe and save this file to the C:\Program Files\Keystone Learning\ directory. Choose "Yes" or "OK" to replace the current file. Then launch your KeyStone course; it should run normally (however, sometimes users that have this problem also have the next problem below).
Problems usually solved by updating KLSUCDROM.EXE
Some users
of Keystone2 courses experience this problem the first time they run it:
you can see instructor video, but do not hear the audio. If this is your
problem, and you are currently able to hear audio through your speakers
(or headphones) from other software applications successfully, please download
the Codec75 installer. Save
the file to your hard drive. Extract the files from the .zip file. (Windows
XP users note: you must extract the files from the zip folder before running
the installation. If the file "Codec75 Update.exe" does not have an American
flag icon
,
it is not yet extracted.) Double-click "Codec75 Update.exe" to install
an audio codec Keystone2 courses need to run. Then launch your KeyStone
course; it should run normally.
Why you need to install Codec75
Some courses of type Keystone2 (those marked with asterisk in list above and Windows 2000 Network and OS Essentials) have some QuickTime video files in which case the suggestions for courses of type Keystone3 below may apply.
If this did not solve your problem, please check the section on Technical Support Issues NOT Specific to the Type KeyStone Course.
Keystone3 courses require a minimum
screen resolution of 1024x768,
Quicktime 5.01 or higher,
Windows Media Player 6.4 or higher, and that the
CD-ROM be in the drive.
When users of Keystone courses of type "Keystone3" have problems they are usually related to QuickTime. If you are not seeing video in your Keystone3 course, you may need to install QuickTime. (The KeyStone installer senses if QuickTime is installed already and if not asks the user click Ok to install it. If this fails or the user chooses not to, QuickTime must be installed manually.) You can manually install a sufficient version of QuickTime from your KeyStone CD-ROM (find the QuickTime directory on the CD-ROM) or you may install the latest version of Quicktime by going to the QuickTime download page.
If you know QuickTime is installed, but things are still not working, please check out the QuickTime Installation Check page.
If this did not solve your problem, please check the section on Technical Support Issues NOT Specific to the Type KeyStone Course.
Keystone1 courses require a minimum
screen resolution of 800x600,
Windows Media Player 6.4 or higher, and that the
CD-ROM be in the drive.
If while installing a KeyStone course of type "Keystone1" you
encounter this error: "The version of Active Movie that you are trying to
install is older than the one already present on your system. ActiveMovie
Setup cannot upgrade an existing installation if the version is newer. Please
uninstall your existing ActiveMovie and then run Setup again." Simply click
"Ok" and allow the installation to continue. Do NOT uninstall
Active Movie. KeyStone courses work fine with newer versions of ActiveMovie.
If this did not solve your problem, please check the section on Technical Support Issues NOT Specific to the Type KeyStone Course.
If you would like to bypass the promotional video that plays when you launch your KeyStone course, you may usually do so by hitting the Esc key once it starts playing. You may also go to the C:\Program Files\Keystone Learning\ directory and rename or delete the file "bumper.asf".
If during installation you encounter the message: "Error copying Text files. Please contact your system administrator." followed by the message: "Error copying Video files. Please contact your system administrator." these errors can be ignored and your KeyStone Learning course should run fine. This sometimes happens when one or more KeyStone Learning courses are installed on one computer.
If you have multiple hard-drive partitions and/or multiple CD/DVD-ROM drives and/or you encounter the message "Please make sure the correct CD is in the CD-ROM drive", please close your KeyStone course and download kls_fix.exe and save it to your hard drive. After downloading, double-click kls_fix.exe and select the drive letter that your KeyStone CD-ROM is in and click OK when the program reports "Done". (Sometimes you will not be given the option to choose a drive letter and the program will simply report "Done"—sometimes this is all it takes.) Then launch your KeyStone course; it should run normally.
If you would like to be able to run your KeyStone Learning course without the CD-ROM in the drive, please click hard drive installation instructions.
As of 9/6/05 Keystone no longer offers staff-assisted technical support for CD-ROM courseware. Technical Support for CD-ROM courseware is limited to the suggestions provided above on this support page. Most users' issues are solved by applying one or more of the
above solutions.
For a limited time, KeyStone will be offering an upgrade option for owners of CD-ROM courseware. If you own a CD-ROM KeyStone course that is available on the new DVD-ROM, Desktop Learning Library (DLL) edition, you can upgrade your CD-ROM courseware to the same course in the DLL edition for $50. KeyStone requires return of the original, genuine KeyStone product and this upgrade is only available for the same course (e.g., one may not upgrade a Crystal Reports 8 CD-ROM product to the Crystal Reports XI DVD-ROM product for $50.)
To upgrade, please first verify your course is available in the DLL edition by searching for it on the Products page. Once you have verified your course is available in the DLL edition, email sales@KeyStoneLearning.com for an RMA number and purchase instructions. If you purchased a CD-ROM product between 2/11/05 and 9/6/05 a less expensive upgrade option may be available.
After receiving your email, KeyStone Learning Support Services will contact you within one business day.
If you would like to return or exchange your KeyStone Learning product, and
you purchased it directly from KeyStone Learning Systems, please review the KeyStone Return Policy and then send an email to support@KeyStoneLearning.com with your order number to initiate the return process. After receiving your email, KeyStone Learning Support Services will contact you within one business day.
If you have received a KeyStone Learning product that appears
to have been damaged in shipping, and you purchased it directly from KeyStone
Learning Systems, please email support@KeyStoneLearning.com
with your order number to initiate the replacement process. After receiving
your email, KeyStone Learning Support Services will contact you within one
business day.
