We think this Microsoft Office Excel 2007 training course is great, and we’ve got our fingers crossed that you’ll like it, too.  We could go on and on about the benefits of training and how it positively impacts user productivity ultimately resulting in a net gain of getting more done in a shorter amount of time. Key Learning Objectives for Microsoft Excel 2007 Training Essentials:

This is such a big course, even bigger when you get it with the rest of the Microsoft Office 2007 training course, we can't possibly list all of the learning objectives here. For that, check out the outline. But, here are some things that we think are pretty cool.

Some Quick Microsoft Excel 2007 Training Tips

Excel 2007 TRAINING TIP: create a custom autofill list

Excel’s default AutoFill lists consist basically of the days of the week and the months of the year. But, you can add your own lists to making filling in future worksheets quite fast. But, you’ll need to open the Custom Lists dialog, first.

To start, open the Excel Options dialog from the Backstage menu and choose Advanced from the left Navigation pane. Scroll down to the General section and click the Edit Custom Lists button. Type your list entries in the big List entries box and click Add when the list is complete.

Or, if the list already exists on your worksheet, click in the box next to the Import button, select the list range back on your worksheet and then click Import. (Microsoft Excel 2007 Training Tips: © KeyStone Learning Systems)

EXCEL 2007 TRAINING TIP: CREATE A line break in a cell

You can use the Wrap Text option on the ribbon’s Home tab in the Alignment group to show text in multiple lines in one cell. But, with this approach you don’t have control over where one line ends and the next line begins. And, since you can’t press ENTER to create a new line, you need a different way to create a new line within a cell. Next time, try [ALT]+[ENTER]. (Microsoft Excel 2007 Training Tips: © KeyStone Learning Systems)

EXCEL 2007 TRAINING TIP:  Whoops! did you hide column a?

If you accidentally hide Column A, since there is no column to select before Column A, you’ll need to click the Select All button in the upper-left corner of your worksheet before you can choose unhide from the shortcut menu. (Microsoft Excel 2007 Training Tips: © KeyStone Learning Systems)

EXCEL 2007 TRAINING TIP:  transpose columns & rows

When you copy and paste in Excel, the pasted values go into the new location in the same manner they were copied. But, from the Paste options menu on the ribbon’s Home tab, you can click the Transpose option to paste rows as columns and vice versa. (Microsoft Excel 2007 Training Tips: © KeyStone Learning Systems)

EXCEL 2007 TRAINING TIP:  print 1 page wide x ? pages tall

In the Page Setup dialog, which you can access by clicking the dialog box launcher arrow on the Page Setup group from the ribbon’s Page Layout tab, you can adjust the scale of a printed worksheet to designate the number of pages wide and tall a printout should be.

But, the default is 1 page wide by 1 page tall. This often creates a printout that is way too small to read. If you just need to squeeze all of the columns on one sheet but you r printout can be multiple pages long, in the width box, enter a 1, but remove the number in the tall box. Just delete the number 1 that’s in there.

Now when you print, the scaling will adjust automatically to 1 page wide and Excel will calculate the total number of pages from there. (Microsoft Excel 2007 Training Tips: © KeyStone Learning Systems)
