Course Summary

This Java Fundamentals Training Course provides development professionals with the basics of the Java programming language within the Windows environment. To participate in this course, previous programming experience is not required; however a basic knowledge of some programming terminology is helpful.

In this course, you’ll start at the very beginning with an overview of Java, it’s advantages and disadvantages and the tools you need to get started using the Java programming language. You’ll then move on to learn how to compile and run a simple program.

Throughout this course, your instructor, Liz Stanley, will go in-depth on using the Java programming language as you work your way through Java specifics such as data types, variables, methods and strings. You’ll learn about flow control as well as an overview of object oriented programming among other topics.

There are over 60 lessons in this course – all designed to give you an introduction to the fundamentals of Java 1.5 programming.

Liz Stanley is a Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 platform and Bea Certified Weblogic Server Developer. Liz Stanley has been working as a Java developer and trainer for the last seven years, using a variety of open source and commercial tools and technologies for Java development and other things. She holds masters degrees in Music History and Management Information Systems, and has four years of college level teaching experience. She is currently a consultant with Object Partners, Inc., a Java J2EE-centric consulting firm in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area.
